Students attending SAIT have a student digital identity which includes a SAIT-issued email, Microsoft 365 license, and additional electronic resources.

Digital identity creation

Your student digital identity is created as follows:

  • Credit students: within one day after you accept your offer of admission and pay your non-refundable tuition deposit*
  • Apprentices and Continuing education students: within one day after you register and pay for classes*[HB1] [RS2] 

*Additional electronic resources (e.g. Brightspace, etc.) will be fully accessible by your course start date

 
Deactivations and deletions – student email, Microsoft 365, and Brightspace/D2L access

Four (4) months after the last date of your last course

  • Your Microsoft 365 license will be limited to online-only
  • You will retain access to your student email and Brightspace/D2L

Twelve (12) months after the last date of your last course

  • Your student digital identity will be deactivated; you will no longer have access to your SAIT-issued email address (@edu.sait.ca), Microsoft 365, or Brightspace (D2L)

Fifteen (15) months after the last date of your last course

  • Your student digital identity will be deleted (including all mailboxes and storage) and any information will not be recoverable**

**If your email address was created after May 2024, if you return to SAIT at a later date your email address will be reactivated but any prior content/data will be lost

PRO TIP
 Download and store all materials you wish to save from Brightspace (D2L) course shells at the end of each course

 

STUDENT EMAIL 

All students have a SAIT email account.  Your login information will be sent to your personal email address.  Access your SAIT email through Microsoft Office Online.

Email address: firstname.lastname@edu.sait.ca

Default password: sent to your preferred email inbox – subject ‘Your SAIT Student Email Address.

If there's more than one student with your first and last name, find your SAIT email address by logging in to mySAIT and selecting Personal Information on the mySAIT page.

 

PASSWORDS

Your SAIT email password is the same as your Office 365 password. This is also the password you use to log in to a SAIT computer, SAIT wireless, and electronic resources like Brightspace (D2L).

If you change your password for one, you change your password for the others as well.  Always change your password from the default after you log in the first time.
