Classes that were moved online for students and apprentices due to rising cases of COVID-19 and the Omicron variant will resume on campus as scheduled Monday, Feb. 28. Labs will also continue face-to-face on campus. If you have any questions specific to your classes, please contact your instructors.

Further to the Government of Alberta announcement on Feb. 8, SAIT is aligning our policies with the direction of the government and the Minister of Advanced Education. As such, effective immediately:

  • students and employees are no longer required to be fully vaccinated to attend on campus
  • students and employees are no longer required to disclose their vaccination status through the SAITALERT app, or otherwise; and
  • we will no longer be controlling access to our buildings.

However, as is still required by the province, we will maintain our mask mandate through to March 1, at which point the wearing of masks will become recommended, rather than mandatory. For now, masks must still be worn in all indoor areas on campus.

Be assured, the health and safety of our community remains a top priority. It is not only appropriate, it is encouraged, to choose to continue wearing a mask after March 1. Both rapid test kits for your home and masks will soon be made available to the SAIT community free of charge for added peace of mind.

We are excited for students to return to the SAIT campus and we appreciate your help in making this a smooth process — be patient and kind to your fellow students and others in the SAIT community. SAIT community members are expected to respect the right of those choosing to wear a mask after Feb. 28.
