The information below will walk you through how to update your personal information and SIN. Review add your emergency contact and learn how to ensure we always your most current information. 

You can update certain personal, demographic and contact information attached to your student profile directly through through mySAIT. This will allow you to ensure we have your correct contact information without having to wait for us to reply to your phone call or email. 


The information you can change through our self-service tools includes the following:


Personal Information* 

  • Address 

  • Telephone number

The following information cannot be changed through MySAIT: 


  • First name 
  • Middle name 
  • Last name 
  • Date of birth 
  • Legal sex (Sex Assigned at Birth) 



*Preferred first name changes made in mySAIT will only be reflected on your instructor's class list. Review Preferred Name Change for steps to make this change on your Office 365 account and SAIT student email address.


**Options currently listed in the gender field are consistent with those required for reporting from the Government of Alberta. SAIT acknowledges different lived experiences and is working to present more fulsome options in the future as part of our EDI strategy.


Follow the steps below to change your info.


  1. Log in to mySAIT and navigate to the myStudent found under the mySAIT tab.
  2. Select View/Update Personal information found under Personal Information, Academic Records & Schedules.
  3. Select the pencil icon next to Edit in the upper right corner of the Personal Details box.
  4. Update the information you wish to change. Note: the following information cannot be changed through mySAIT.
    1. First name
    2. Middle name
    3. Last name
    4. Date of birth
    5. Legal sex
  5. Once your information is updated, select Update to save the changes.
     


Contact information changes

  1. Log in to mySAIT and navigate to the myStudent page.


 

2. Select View/Update Personal Information found under Personal Information, Academic Records & Schedules.  

An Edit window will appear. Change the pertinent information and select Update.

Once you have done this, your personal information will be updated in your student profile. 


Address changes


When changing your address, there are two things you should consider. You need to confirm the address on file is accurate and the Valid Until date has not passed. 


Review and change the Valid Until date


You may have a valid until date if you are living somewhere temporarily. If this date has passed or you it is no longer required, follow the steps below to remove it from your student profile.

  1. Log in to mySAIT and navigate to the mySAIT page.

  2. Select Personal information found under Change Personal Information.
  3. If your profile has the correct address and an old end date, click the pen icon found in the Address section.
  4. Delete the date in the Valid Until field.


Review and change your address


If you have moved, you will need to update your address on your student profile. Follow the steps below to complete this change.

  1. Log in to mySAIT and navigate to the mySAIT page.

  2. Select Personal information found under Change Personal Information.
     
  3. If the address on your profile is incorrect, select Add New in the upper right corner of the Address section.
     
  4. Fill out the Add Address window with the following details.
    1. Select Permanent from the Address Type drop down.
    2. Choose the current date from the Valid From field.
    3. Leave the Valid Until field empty.
    4. Enter your street address in Address Line 1.
    5. Enter your City, State/Province (if applicable), Country and Zip/Postal Code in the appropriate fields
  5. Click Add when you have entered the appropriate information.


Add your SIN for your Student Tax Receipts


The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires post-secondary institutions to include social insurance numbers (SIN) for any student tax documents. You can provide this information now using a new secured method through mySAIT.

  1. Log in to mySAIT and in the mySAIT tab select myStudent from the dropdown menu. 
  2. Select Update SIN under Taxes in the Finance Information section. 
  3. Follow the instructions on the page to update your SIN. 




Demographic Information 


Students can add or change their demographic data in their myStudent profile using the Demographic Information Form.  

 

1. Log in tomySAITand in themySAITtab selectmyStudentfrom the dropdown menu.  

 

2. Select Demographic Information in the Academic Records, Demographic Information and Schedules section.

3. Complete the Demographic Information Form by answering each of the questions. Responses are voluntary and each question contains a prefer not to answer option The following dimensions of diversity are collected:  

 

  • Preferred First Name* 
  • Pronouns  
  • Sex Assigned at Birth  
  • Marital Status 
  • Gender Identity  
  • Indigeneity  
  • Ethnicity  
  • Sexual Orientation  
  • Disability  
  • Immigrations Status

4. Click the red button to submit information. A submission confirmation message and email are provided.

5. Information submitted will be updated within 24 hours. No update notification will be provided.  

 

How your information is used 

 

SAIT collects demographic data via form, survey or questionnaire. The data collection is used to gain insights and advance our Community and Belonging initiatives including collecting information such as gender identity, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, disability status, pronouns, title, religious affiliation, Indigeneity and other identity characteristics. We use this data to help understand and serve our student and employee populations, identify and close gaps related to achievement and progression, provide accommodations and identity affirmations and to connect students with resources and support groups such asAccessibility Services,Black Empowerment and Excellence at SAIT (BEES),Interfaith Centre,International Centre,Natoysopoyiis,Neurodiversity Alliance,Pride at SAIT, andWomen in Trades and Technology (WITT). 



Keeping your personal information updated will ensure we your student profile is accurate. This will help us ensure you receive information pertinent to your education at SAIT.


Demographic data is collected voluntarily, only accessible to authorized staff, and not shared with third parties.
