The Upass and Campus Rec fees are mandatory non-instructional fees assessed to all students in eligible programs. More information on both fees can be found below.
UPass
The Universal Transit Pass, or UPass program is a partnership initiative between Calgary Transit and participating post-secondary schools in the city of Calgary, including SAIT. This gives you unlimited accessto Calgary Transit services during any term in which you're enrolled in at least nine credits for at least 15 straight weeks.
Campus Recreation
The campus rec fee is assessed to all credit students and apprentices. The fee is used to support the provision of recreation and fitness facilities, movement classes, wellness programs, student events, intramural activities, varsity sport programs and a variety of student engagement initiatives offered throughout the academic year. Review athletics centre to stay up-to-date on everything related to your SAIT Trojans and campus centre.
These fees contribute to the overall campus experience and benefits the majority of SAIT students.
You may be eligible for exemptions from these costs in the following situations.
- UPass: you are enrolled in 9 credits or more per semester and all your courses are fully online.
- Note: according to Calgary Transit's UPass contract, you cannot opt-out of the UPass fee if you qualify for a low-income bus pass.
- Campus recreation: all your courses are fully online and you reside 100 km or farther from the main campus.
