Technology — it's in our name

In 1916, our doors opened in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with 11 students and a mandate to train veterans returning from the First World War. Over the years, we’ve matched community needs — as a hospital during the Spanish Flu pandemic and as a Royal Canadian Air Force Wireless Training School during the Second World War.

The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) is a vibrant community of makers, shapers and originals. We’ve always been future-focused — tech is in our name and innovation is in our DNA. We’ve been reimagining the workforce of tomorrow for 100+ years, and today that mission feels more important than ever. As a global leader in applied education, SAIT is a top destination for students from all around the world.

We equip students with essential skills for career success in industry where 91% of our grads get hired. If a prospective student is looking to upskill or change careers, we provide both opportunities by enabling a lifetime learning through a relevant and customized education. SAIT is proud to enhance the global competitiveness of our students and region. Due to small class sizes, students are able to get the most out of their academic experience. Applied "hands-on" learning prepares our students to confidently enter the workforce upon graduation. SAIT aligns program offerings to current labour market needs, and collaborates with many industry partners.

In addition to a high-quality education, the student experience is another important factor for the institution. Among the various services available to all students, we have a dedicated team at the International Centre to assist international students with their unique needs including immigration advising, settlement inquiries, job opportunities, social activities, and many more. SAIT offers ongoing support and training for international agents and is continuously enhancing partnership activities.

SAIT's main campus is conveniently located inner-city, allowing easy transit access for students, staff, and visitors. We have 2 residences, 23 dining options, a Health Services Clinic, Library, state-of-the-art facilities, academic supports, and career services; all within a beautiful campus overlooking downtown Calgary.
